National Association of Police Organizations Endorses Mark Lamb for Congress

August 19, 20264 min read

The National Association of Police Organizations has endorsed former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb for Congress in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, adding the support of one of the nation’s prominent law enforcement coalitions to Lamb’s campaign.

The endorsement was issued by NAPO Executive Director William J. Johnson following a recommendation from the Arizona Police Association.

In its endorsement letter, NAPO pointed to Lamb’s longstanding relationship with the law enforcement community and expressed confidence that he would continue supporting law enforcement in Congress.

NAPO is a national coalition of police unions and associations founded in 1978. According to the organization, it represents more than 1,000 police units and associations and approximately 250,000 sworn law enforcement officers nationwide.

Mark Lamb Responds to NAPO Endorsement

Mark Lamb thanked both organizations for their support and reflected on the responsibility that comes with receiving an endorsement from the law enforcement community.

“Thank you to NAPO for your endorsement and to the Arizona Police Association for recommending me for this honor.

Having spent my career standing alongside law enforcement, I understand the sacrifices officers and their families make every day to keep our communities safe.

Law enforcement is more than a profession to me. I have served with these men and women. I have watched them miss holidays, birthdays and family dinners because their communities needed them. I have seen officers walk into situations most people would run from, not because they wanted recognition, but because protecting their neighbors was their responsibility.

As Sheriff of Pinal County, one of my greatest honors was leading the men and women who put on the uniform every day. I saw firsthand what good law enforcement can accomplish when officers are supported, properly equipped and allowed to do their jobs.

Our country needs leaders in Washington who understand that public safety is one of government's most basic responsibilities. The men and women who wear the badge deserve elected officials who will listen to them, support them and make sure our laws protect both our communities and those entrusted with keeping them safe.

I am grateful for NAPO’s confidence in me, and I will always stand with the men and women who wear the badge.”
