Democrats Should Be Ashamed
Last night during the State of the Union, President Trump made a simple statement. He said that moments like this allow the American people to see what their representatives truly stand for.
He then invited any member of Congress who believes the top priority of elected officials is to protect the citizens of the United States over illegal aliens to stand.
For nearly two minutes, the chamber filled with cheers and applause from Republicans.
What stood out just as clearly was who did not stand.
Regardless of party, when you are elected to office, you represent every person in your district. That responsibility does not pause because of personal feelings toward a president. It does not disappear because of political disagreements. Your job is to conduct the people’s business with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
What Americans witnessed was not disagreement. It was a lack of leadership.
We can debate policy. We can disagree on solutions. But refusing to acknowledge the duty to protect American citizens first is a failure to represent the people who sent you to Washington.
